Diane Murray-Clements

Diane L. Murray-Clements is a New Jersey native born and raised in the Township of Hillside, where she served as the At-Large Councilwoman from 2013-2017 in a diverse community of more than 21,000 residents. Over the past 20 years, she has worked in the Insurance and Real Estate business in a wide variety of professional capacities for prominent Fortune 500 companies. 

Diane’s formal education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Business Management from Bloomfield College. She currently is a rising entrepreneur that owns and manages Diane L. Murray Insurance Agency located in Union, NJ. Her clients include corporate leaders, ministers, and business owners throughout the United States. 

Diane currently hosts It’s a Sure Thing podcast on YouTube where she highlights small business owners and executives focusing on informing and engaging communities of New Jersey. 

Diane is a lifelong member of Franklin-St. John’s United Methodist Church in Newark, NJ. Over the years she has held membership in many ministries including Modern Gospel Choir, Girl Scouts as a Troop Leader, and formerly a Board of Trustee for Franklin-St. John’s United Methodist Church. 

Diane is the past President and CEO of Franklin-St. John’s Credit Union founded by her mother, the late Dr. Jean A. Murray. 

For more than 30 years, Diane has demonstrated her commitment and strong advocacy for the community. Diane has completed coat drives that collected over 700 coats for distribution to persons in Essex and Union counties. Diane has chaired several organizations focused on financial education, health, and family. Diane has raised funds by partnering with other organizations to provide free dictionaries and thesauruses to children of 13th Avenue School, in Newark, NJ. As an elected official she coordinated the first ever Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration and Senior Valentine dance. In addition, she partnered with a truck company to deliver collected nonperishables, clothes, and toiletries for victims in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. 

Diane resides in Hillside with her loving husband, Warren. They are the proud parents of two adult children Diana & Nile. 

Diane’s ongoing mission is to engage the people in becoming active in their own lives by investing in themselves and their community.
